She Walked Lightly

She walked lightly in the mist of dare
Fragile heart as warm as fire’s flare
Eyes unseen by those who never sought
Looking past the smoke of hazy thought

In recesses of the soul and mind
Hidden secrets only to the blind
Through the blackness of exotic eyes
Someone saw the mask of her disguise

She walked silently on paths unknown
Into places of her very own
Someone saw her in the evening mist
An enchantment he could not resist

Unapproachable her gentle face
Undeniable her anchored space
Delineated by the black of eyes
This barrier, source of man’s demise

She walked lightly in the evening haze
Vague her figure to his wanting gaze
Even moonlight could not pierce the shroud
Even tides could not dispel the cloud

Into footprints he so boldly tread
Into vapor were his footsteps led
In a blinding fog he felt her near
And broke though the aura of his fear

Her eyes succumbed to the flash of light
A heart of fire that lit the night
The veil removed of love now born
Before the hour of early morn

She walked lightly in the purple dawn
Even in her death she led him on
In the blackness of her mirrored eyes
A lucid image of his heart’s demise

Hi Liz

This is a bit different for you...almost surreal.  The journey of hearts here is bitter sweet, and as always so beautifully done.

Exceptional write of the birth and death of love. There is much to see in the eyes of the truth. Really enjoyed. ThisDiamond

Elizabeth...I do not easily say when someone
has left me in deep thought, sans words.
But this did.

Publish.

what a mystic dark beauty you have penned here Lizzie...a touch of Poe me thinks...
as always your gift of imagery and cadence stands out and leaves an impression.
So great to see you back on the blue pages dear Poetess

And if all the pain was confined ...
Would I be your salvation
could I make your spirit shine.
