Oh how wonderful a button the delete key can be
For in the matter of seconds your heart disappears
Down the drain of a computers memory
Sometimes an undo command will recover it
But most of the time it has been erased from history

But the delete key could be improved
For fear of a simple deletion
Politician would have to tell the truth
CEO’s would have to account for themselves
Used car dealers would have to be honest

Wars would we won and lost on phantom fields
With no losses of human live
Religions would have to respect each other
Lawyers would still be taking you to court
Oh well some things never change

But then with so much power
You would surely become God like
Well my delete key just eliminated that
And again just deleting words of thought
Just when I was beginning to make a difference

To see the poems I have just make up, email me to get on a distribution list. If you then request,  I will then post that poem where you choose. To get on this list email me at davelyoung1@hotmail.com.

For the best online selection of posted poems go to http://www.authorsden.com/visit/author.asp?AuthorID=5012  .

I write so much that I do not want to overburden a site with too many of my writings. Your writing is important as mine so it should also have its space.

Good morning...

interesting poem.  At first I thought if the delete key were deleted...then we WOULD very carefully weigh our words, for nothing could ever be taken back...perhaps, we would look harder into life sans erasers, magic markers and divorce courts, and our throw-away society would just not be...

all for the absence of a delete key.  [Do I really want this here?]

Unfortunately, we only think deleting things is easy.  Not so.  You've got to watch out for those hard drives and landfills...

Delete has too much power, but I often think of the remarkable ability of "send now" for email. You can pour out your heart to someone that may not wish to hear, and before you have time to think it out, hit send. And the rest is history..
