I'm leaving part of me behind
After I've taken my final breath
I hope that parts of me live on
In the days after my death

I've decided to donate my organs
To those who struggle to live
I want to leave a good impression
Of myself I have much to give

Maybe a child will receive my liver
To improve his life tenfold
Which will give his life more quality
And allow him to grow old

I hope my heart will go on beating
So then my death won't be in vain
Parts of me will go on living
Freeing others from their pain

The recipient of my kidneys
May be a father who is facing death
Who'll receive my gift of life
Allowing him more than one last breath

My eyes may go on seeing
From within another's soul
To give to someone in need
Is to me the ultimate goal

I feel proud to be a donor
How I wish there were many more
So won't you please consider
Allow your heart to open its door

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

(big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, I believe everyone should give their organs after their death, for there is always another special person in need of them to live and it to me is also a good feeling to save anothers life! (kiss on cheek) You are a true angel, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I just decided to be a donor a few years ago. I'm not so sure if I have anything useful, but if so, I hope it would save someone else.

Sue,  this is a beautiful poem of courage
and giving....of an unselfish heart that
desires to help with the greatest gift
that one could ever give...

I, too, am marked as an organ donor.  But the problem is, I want to wear all of my parts out myself.  So we will just have to see.  But this is an excellent plea to remind folks that it is one of the best ways of giving life through death.  Well done, Sue!

Sue, you have the most beautiful heart.  To me, so long as the soul leaves with me, everything else is secondary.  I salute your courage, and have to tell you I really appreciate these lines so very muchly:

"I hope my heart will go on beating
So then my death won't be in vain
Parts of me will go on living
Freeing others from their pain"

*hugs*

This is a beautiful poem about wonderful gifts you will bestow.
I wish I could do the same, but because I have cancer...my organs would probably do more harm than good to someone who is already compromised...
but I do admire your generosity, Sue...
as well as your writing.
~ lots of hugs

Gosh Sue, what a wonderful, selfless and loving act of kindness. There are so many people who need organ donations to survive.

I just saw on the news tonight a former football player (American football not soccer!) who received a transplant on 9/11. He said it is a day he will never forget for it's bittersweet memories.

God bless you...Love ya, Marti
