(This is a song I wrote about my cousins best friend Emmitt who died yesterday because he had a broken rib and for a period of time doctors neglected his needs for surgery and only gave him pills selfishly and now the hospital is being sued for murder. My heart goes out to all those who are being victimized by the lack of quality care in hospitals! )

Worm In The Apple
By: Noah Eaton
8/7/02

Brother, if I should die
Kneel beside me and hold my hand
Brother, if I should die
Promise me you'll hug me before I go

It seems the doctor could do nothing to help me
Seems there is a worm in the apple
It seems these demons have stripped me of my health
I would rather rest peacefully than sleep in my pain

Please, I'm kneeling to my knees
Brother please

There's no time to spare
Brother please

Brother, if I should fall away
Rid my bones of this infection man has laid upon me
Brother, if I should fall away
Rest me in a golden bed where olive vines taste sweet

I have my hand over my fractured rib
Beneath where my heart cries poisoned by greed
Where this pneumonia inflames my body
Like a worm in the apple

Please, I'm kneeling to my knees
Brother please

There's no time to spare
Brother please

Brother, promise me
You'll help them to understand those like me
Brother, promise me
You'll do your best to save many others like me

From this malaria that turns doctors into murderers
Like worms in an apple
Please teach them not to make the same mistakes
And isolate another innocent soul from death

Please, I'm kneeling to my knees
Brother please

There is no time to spare
Brother please

I said I won't sleep
I won't sleep
I won't sleep...
I won't sleep until my words are taken seriously
Brother please...

Noah,
Always enjoy reading your lyrics. And true they make more mistakes then I would care to mention.

A grappling of rage, beauty and sadness. Loved this, Noah. God bless.

Noah, I know firsthand the mistakes doctors can and do make.
This is a very powerful yet sad write sweetie.
Well done!

Oh how sad, Noah...but you have turned it into a beautiful poem...
I'm glad the hospital is being sued for his death.  I hope they have to pay his family a lot of money, but even if they do...it will not bring him back.  Money is no substitute for a loving friend, brother, son etc.

Hello Noah

This was so tragic and there is definitely a lesson to be learnt here.

Take care....Sue

Noah, you are so correct when it comes to looking out for others...
and through your loss, comes learning...
thank you for taking a tragic moment,
and immortalizing it...

This is so warm and tender, sniff!, I’m sure they are comforted by this sweet piece from such a warm and caring person like you.

Noah - this is very sad what happened due to negligent medical care. Makes one wonder...
