Shopping Trip

I have reached a new conclusion.
About life, and its delusions.
We'll never purchase peace of mind
while shopping at
the mall.

I've perused the glowing trinkets.
Pondered lies that make us think it
Can't justify the poison snakes
confounding one
and all.

Those eniticing brazen harlots
(Mad. Ave. pays the skinney starlets)
Confections for our feeble minds
"Blondes always have
more fun."

Such a worrisome indictment.
When the crowds only excitment,
is when the "Blue Light Special" shines
upon us like
the sun.

As we leave the retail bunkers
Load into our Chevey junkers
I comment to the wife and kids
"Dad needs a brand
new car."

Realistic snippets of life, captured in a most enjoyable format, nicely penned bags123.

Very much enjoyed this slant on it. (though, I’ll admit to being one who thinks no problem can’t be solved with a little shopping trip!!)
I really enjoyed the rhythm and rhyming scheme you used here. The words seem to dance down the page.

This looks like the male viewpoint on shopping.
I truly enjoyed the poem, but like Tracey...I am a firm believer in retail therapy.

Thanks all. Yes it is a typically male viewpoint I'm afraid.

yep, I do agree with the ladies, but gotta admit, it's a temporary high...and bags, perhaps that "male p.o.v." thing, the new car reference just illustrates the same human thrill of aquisition--we just like different toys, that's all! enjoyed.

Sorry, bags, I have to disagree that it's only a male thing...

I'm one of those shoppers who knows what she wants and refuses to go after it unless I absolutely need it and then, if I don't see it in the first zoom through the store, then it's not meant to be found and I'm gone.

When I DO see what I want, that's it.  I don't want to look for something "like" it, something cheaper, something more expensive.  If THAT's it, that's IT.  [Want to know something else?  If I'm shopping with a female friend and she says "now you need accessories" I'm just as prone to put the item originally decided upon back, because I'm not about to add to it.]

So, there you have it.

Want me to go car shopping with you?
