inside the house
as Mom does her chores
quiet as a mouse
her son comes in the door

his big blue eyes alight
as he clutches his pockets tight
then brings forth his treasure
to show his love without measure

with wilted stems and tattered posies
but to Mom, they're as good as roses

(a friend of mine, a few years ago, told me the story about her son bringing her some wildflowers and inspired this poem, since I found it in my dusty old file I am reminded how much I miss her and her poetry, I hope I hear from her again soon...)

I use to go out and find the first violets of spring as they peeked up from the needles of the pine trees.I would pick a hand full and give them to my mother.

Jason,  such a priceless gift a gesture
can be...particularly from a son to a
mother....

I can only relate from the vantage of a little girl bringing in the posies - but it's one of the best experiences any mom can have...Nicely done...

I remember these experiences so well. The little flowers in dirty hands, with big smiles, and an I love you Mom. Oh yes, I remember them well. Thank you for the look back in time.

I well remember my kids bringing me flowers picked from the side of the road, or perhaps "borrowed" from a neighbours garden.

Nicely written..  brings back cherished memories.

Jason

My husband always tells me of his gift of flowers to his mother...and the words, "I just found it in the alley".  This poem is filled with sweet tenderness.
