Contentment

Why does the moth fly into the flame?
Does it not know it’s quite insane?
How many times must it fry its wing?
Stupid moth you are a crazy thing
Look around you moth the sky is free
Dangers there are but these you see
But no you fly once more to the flame
That burns your fragile wings once again

Why does a heart search on in vain?
When it can find shelter from the rain
Inside some souls there is a basic need
It’s that which it searches on to feed
But if you will look closer to home
You’ll find it all there’s no need to roam
Within your soul you can hear love’s call
You just have to listen that is all

Why does a soul not settle for this?
Be happy with its portion of bliss?
Why like the moth does it flap about?
Is it deaf to love’s clarion shout?
Little moth please cease frying your brain
Don’t fly straight into the fire’s flame
In contentment heart feel the love flow
From those closest to you, those you know

Contentment might not be wildly free
But it’s true lasting eternity

Marsha

This poem is about cherishing what we have, and not chasing after what we don’t, and in that vein I dedicate it to Emma, don’t go chasing rainbows darling heart Hmmmm?

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

I only can think of one word:  FANTASTIC!!!
How much easier we would find life if we were just content to enjoy what is right in front of us!

Open the door and let your adventure begin!!!

Maaaaaasha!    written in Mommy-Speak
which can only mean:  with the deepest love possible.
This whole poem i mean to read a few more times and
absorb everyline, like it was sweated from my soul.
Awesome, and echoes many of my own sentiments
especially when applied to our children.
You are an utterly utterly utterly utterly Fasmatastic Mum!
Give em' all a hug from us here in Hoosier-Land, will ya?

And the moral of the story is....

IF you must fly into the flame,  at least
wear fire retardant underwear!!

Excellent poem dear Mushy....

MarshaLove~
It's times like this that I wish EVERYONE could HEAR you read this ...

Folks ... trust me ... she read it to me over the phone tonight ... with NO intention of posting it !!!
I simply threw an utter fit
and begged her to post it~
She's easy !!!

To hear the thoughtful phrases roll off her tongue sent a warmth through me that I wish you all could share~

Marsha ... like I said ... it's BEAUTIFUL !
So much love .... so much beauty ...~
You are quite the poetess sweet lady~
I love you to pieces~

I'd guess that it's endlessly flying toward the 'light' - not realizing that it's surrounded by its emanating rays already...

I am just a moth
doing what moths do I guess
I do love the flames

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Marsha,
did you amend that "don't forget your asbestos underwear you may get hit by an open flame" saying. If so it was good to see it make a comeback.
Seriously though I love this. It is so full of wisdom.

Marsha darling lady! You know that I just utterly love this don't you??? What perfect advice! I knew you were a wise mum and friend...perfectly written! But of course!

If we could all just "listen", then there would be no need to fall into those septic tanks we stumble over climbing those fences, don't you agree?

Batman sends his love, and is just so puffed up over that poem you wrote for him...what an ego! *LOL*

I strongly suspected I was going to love this simply from reading the title... and I wasn't at all disappointed. This is beautiful, Marsha. *S* I especially love the last couplet... so very true! *S*

Finally!  I've read this three times, started to post a response twice, and finally...I get to do it!  Interruptions!  Now, Emma...perhaps we should say, do as your mother says, not as she has done?  LOL...

If all children were to have the wisdom of really listening to their parents, the markets would NEVER sell hair dye to cover the gray...
