It Was Too Hot

The sun was shining so hot, yesterday
As he walked out the door
I knew he wouldn't be back for quite a while
He has done that so many times before

Reaching down to pick up Barney
Thinking he was going to take him too
I told him to just put him down
He's stying here where it is cool

A drunk doesn't think of anyone, but himself
For him to take Barney, I would not let him do
Barney was a little sad I could see
It was just too hot in the afternoon

The hours just kept passing on by
With the day moving on into the night
I was glad I kept Barney here at home
Because I knew that Barney was alright

(sigh) Awwwwwww, I'm so glad you got to keep Barney safe from him, Barney looks soooooo cute in the picture! (kiss on cheek) I hope everything is starting to loosen up for you with the drunk, sweet friend, know I am here if you need someone to talk to, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Even when the weather is oppressive, a cool head goes far to lift the haze.
Good job Sue! ThisDiamond

Good for you Sue! You keep Barney safe.

You're right, drunks don't think.

Hang in there sweet lady, someday this all will be just a bad memory.

I'm not even sure of what to say. I've read all of your poetry since coming to this board and I am at times overwhelmed with the sadness in your words. What can I say really, I'm just another voice from the net. But being a woman as well I have to at least say. If this is true, and your living situation is thus, please, seek help.

You are cared for here amongst friends. I wish I could do more.

This was a very sweet poem. I'm glad you kept Barney cool....
