Swiftly, rivers run
Faster still, our children grow
Shadows on water

Yes,  they certainly do,  don't they...
Makes one feel a little vulnerable when
we look at them growing,  knowing we are
not any younger....hoping we have given
them what they need in their lives...

Karilea

The mother in me has a hand out, holding each by the belt loop, to keep them from falling into turbulent life...the woman in me is proud of their spirit.  Loved this photo and poem.

Sunshine - yes, they are like shadows, here today, gone tomorrow. Makes one feel as if they are getting more mature...

(smiles) Oh Karilea, I love this, sweet friend, I too love waddling in the creekbeds and feeling the cold water tug at my feet and ankles, this is wonderful, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Our children do grow fast as rivers flow.
We can only help them steer clear of rapids
on the river of life... Paul

Karilea,

This is one of the better haiku poems I have ever read. Though, honestly, I rarely understand most of them, they're so vague.
But, this one I understand.
thanks for the thought...

Jason

P.S. I only wrote one haiku, ever, and it was to explain why I never do them.....

numbered seventeen
they are just simply too few
to say all I feel

see what I mean???......

Are lost by the sea,
So are the children,

Yes, yes, yes, great analogy.

And when they are grown and more out on their own, it's as though they have slipped through our hands like water.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Flowing water in a stream, is that you there? Play in the river casting the shadow.  I like the short style and way it says so much.

It seems that you drink deeply of the rippling too, Karilea. I'm moved by these words.
