~Nothing More~

The fullness of her pretty mouth
smiles the ache of somber news
in graceful arcing curve

the light in her youthful eyes
belies the grievous message
her beauty talks to me of empty future
and life undone by disease

as a smile masquerades my tears
I listen
soaking up her words
grasping

grasping for a positive
a phrase
a word on which to hang my sodden hopes

but her palliative answers cut deep
in her vision, there is only the end

there is nothing more
we can do
~

Lyra, they don't call it "practicing" medicine for nothing. There are many unexplained results....for example how positive thinking and belief can overcome illness. Hey, let's try it and find out!!!

Lyra~You know I believe in miracles, right?
We need you to keep a positive attitude here
while our prayer circle weaves it's wonderful way.
Tears are okay...so are prayers..
Lean us us dear friend...let us help.
We will help you through this...your doctor is not God..
She is one educated person,
but she cannot say what will actually happen.
Hang in there...write it out...
let us all pray for a recovery for you.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Lyra, that is never true! (BIG HUGGGSSSSSS) I know how you must feel right now but I too believe with all my heart there is one thing science and medicine can never grasp and that is the power of faith and miracle. He is the best doctor of all, and He knows much she does not know, and I know with all my heart He is weeping in compassion over your tears and He is guiding you with the mnedicine of love right now and is healing you! (sigh) Keep thinking optimistic thoughts, sweet friend, no medicine even comes close to comparing with faith, God Bless You, you are in my thoughts and prayers, we all love you so much and are all here for you!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Lyra...

A few decades back, my father seriously injured his arm where they thought the only thing they could do was amputate.  They told my mother this, and she said no, he would never allow that.  She instructed THEM not to tell my father, and once he was past the danger of gangrene setting in, told mother that the best they could do was set his arm so that it was "out of the way".  Not straight down, but semi-crooked as if the hand were about to buckle his belt, if you get the picture.

Ok.

Dad doesn't know he will never use his arm again.  But Mom does.  Having his left arm in a sling didn't stop my dad for long.  He chopped wood, laid linoleum, put up a small cabinet, and did a myriad of other chores and tasks while "recuperating".  Only now and then would he ask for a little help.  With his right hand, he would massage his left fingers [he was still in a cast] night and day.  As if "willing" some sensation into them.  At night, in his recliner, we could watch as he concentrated on moving his lifeless fingers.

One Saturday morning he and I were up, early.  He said, "watch" and I did, as the little finger on his left hand seemed to move.  He told me to get mother, and I did, trying to explain to her that he was making it move, and she knew it could be nothing more than an absent jerk, or simply our imaginations. [Dad had a great imagination!]

BUT...for mother, he forced the little finger up and down on command.  He was sweating buckets, but he did it.  Mom was in tears.  But she still did not tell him that he would never have full use of his hand or arm again.  Instead, she went out and got him some silly putty.

Dad only learned that they were going to amputate on the day the cast was removed, and the doctor was about to tell him about his "lifeless arm".  That was the day Dad took that "lifeless arm", picked the doctor's hand up, shook it, and then reached into his back pocket to pull out a $10.00 bill to add to the payment that they had been making to the doctor's statement.  I don't know who cried harder that morning...the doctor, Dad, or Mom.

Miracles happen.

And I'm praying that you will continue to believe in Miracles, too.

Love you.  K

Yet in her sad admission ... I would like to think that she knows there is a *Higher Power* that can lift you further than her teachings allow her to be able to do~

Faith is the 'bandaid' that allows healing to take place~
You're covered !

Thanks so much for your reply, Michael...
Practicing is the right word.  I know that because I remember when my son was in med school, they used to make a joke of it, although they really weren't joking.

But right now, anyone can practice on me if they guarantee that the cancer will go away completely forever...
I am trying to stay strong but it is very hard not to be scared right now.

I think I have that book and I eat a lot of foods containing vitamin c... I have tried the supplement but have gotten lots of heartburn from it, so I'm going to see if there is anything else I can eat with it which will keep it from giving me this heartburn.

Thanks so much, Nan.....
Tomorrow is the democratic primary here in Michigan, but I am actually an independant...
but I do have lots of yard signs from my first husband...maybe I should go out today and plant them all over the place...
except I'm not asking for votes for political office....
I just want everyone to give me a vote of confidence and strength....and life.
I want to go out and LIVE MY LIFE for a long time.

LYRA FOR LIVING

now isn't that a great slogan for my campaign for life?  especially with the tramp poet on the Harley...
