Fervent are the willows, bowed reverent in sacred rain
Flowing arms in elegance, withdrawn in shy refrain
How well the riverbanks provide in thirsty cloudless spells
To wait the thunder rolls that pour libation to full wells

Frequently the searching roots will seek a liquid source
In hidden, seeking brevity where once the rivers course
How soon to saturated, in crystal flows the bloodline clear
To wait the thunder rolls in bring of drink and shower near

Fair and upturned greenery of unkempt vinery locks
In quiet fortitude to bend the storms of after shocks
How soon these regal plantings grow so strongly sensitive
To wait the thunder rolls and water wholes all relative

So....tell me this....do you have a magic
chant you do with your rain dances...???

If not...me thinks you need to...

Praying for rain....

Beautiful poem Kathy....

ThisDiamond - one of my favorite trees is the willow. Why, I'm not sure. Just peaceful they are, as they stand by the river. Very nice write...

Thank you for bringing me the images of the willow beside the 'stream.' I love willows and have seen them draped over rivers, lakes and ponds.

Lovely to get to see them in my mind's eye again by your vivid use of words.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
