Sing To Me Tonight

sing to me tonight
my favorite lullaby
and if you do this
I promise not to cry
lull me to sleep
take my ghost away
please chase the ones
that want to stay
if you sing to me
when I wake in the light
it might dispel
the hurt of this night
        you know the song
        you know the one
of lovers and friends
that have lost their way
where one stands still
while the other walks away
and the one left standing
could never say stay
it’s not easy in the letting go
or moving on in not knowing why
but wings are fixed to their feet
and in leaving somehow they fly
at times of no words of anger
sometimes no words of explain
one day they are here with you
the next just you remain
so sing to me tonight
my favorite lullaby
and if you do this for me
I will try not to cry

Very touching & really good.
It's never easy facing tomorrow, but it's better than living in the past.

Helen,  I believe we all have been in this
place of our lives....I know I have...

But your poetry paints the moment and the
feelings so perfectly...

yes, touching, I like the way you begin and then echo that in the end, as well.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I lived something like that last year I think Helen.  Sometimes we just don't know why things happen.  Very well written write.

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.
