long and lonely the path I have walked
seeking only solace
                solace for this heart
my only companions, the songs of my life
told in a meter unfelt and in a rhythm unheard
and, all the way along, today even as yesterday
                                     and yet as tomorrow
there is the song that fills my soul and pours from me
as the water (now wine) poured forth that day
Dios te salve Maria, llena eres de gracia
the song that holds me fast to the path
no matter where it might take me,
no matter how long or how hard the journey
              there is always the song

it seems to echo around me in the wind and the trees
speaks to me in the wings of the birds and the cries of the children
comforts me in blankets of time and coats of being
speaking to me in the language that is always and ever my own
                     el Senor es contigo
there was another who walked this path with me for a time
guiding me in the way that I needed to go
giving me the lessons that I needed to learn
until, one day, his path took him away from me all too soon
and I was forced to walk a little slower than I would have liked
my feet unsure of the steps
that I needed to take now, on my own
I found that there were times that my feet weren't ready
     but, I remembered his words
                                  and I remembered his way
and my feet walked proud and tall
knowing that I wasn't following in his footsteps
              but creating my own

Bendita tu eres entre todas las mujeres
y bendita es el fruto de tu vientre, Jesus

the one remaining now watches over me
guiding me from afar
catching me unknowing when I stumble
setting me back where I need to be
and letting me know that no matter where I might go
there will always be a place where my heart will be welcome
a place where my soul can be at rest
the place where my beginnings are held
and where my endings are kept
where my stories will always be heard
and where my life will always be known

                     Santa Maria, Madre de Dios
                        ruega por nosotros pecadores
ahora y en la hora de neustra muerte

and when my path is done
my heart will know the secrets of Life and Light
I will be held by the arms of Love
that I have so long for sought
arms that have known the ways I have walked
have felt the sun on their limbs
and the rain on their fingers
they will hold me close to themselves
and I will be where I was meant to be, in them
my past will be known and forgiven of me
my future will be seen and given to me
and I will know
that at the end of the path
                                     is peace

YAY!!! Oh my gosh, this is just excellent, sweet friend, you should consider posting in Spiritual Journies more often, your words would fit perfectly there also! (big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, I can't wait to see the pilgrim continue his journey and seek peace true to his heart, sweet friend, we all love you so much, I am adding this to my library because it is so good! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sven, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sven - magnificent write, as only you can do. And I'm sure we both understand that "we know that at the end of the path is peace"/ It's there, I know it is my friend...

thank you all my friends. . .

"the pilgrim" will be an "ongoing" series. . . having its origins in the prayers and songs of my faith, it will tell a story. . . a story of me, and of life. . . one that everyone can find parts of themselves in, and one that everyone can learn something from. . .

I hope that you'll continue with me along this path. . .and that I'll share something with you that will make you look. . . and see. . . thanks. . .
