This Hour

the morning
began in a luxurious cool
that washed over me
as a refreshing shower

yet
at this early hour
the cool has been
scraped away
leaving me longing
for a mint bath
or peppermint shower
beneath the bower
of rose petals raining
their scent
within gentle breezes

and a time
that eases
the pressures of need,
the litany of want,
the languor
of idleness,
the famine
of purpose

wash me
cool me
enliven me
I pray

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I think not only is the poem superb in it's style and grace, but the title fits it very well...I enjoyed it, and thank you for putting it here for our pleasure...
