There is marriage in the air, here at PiP. For my friends, (you know who you are) a thought on...

"Vows"

It occurs to me
that any two people
Considering marriage
need to realize
That failure
is not, an option

You must eliminate
the escape clauses
Work without a net
Overcome the trivial
and it is all
trivial

I speak from some
small experience of it
I really do, wish
that instead of parroting
some rent-a-preachers
words by rote

I had just taken
her sweet face
into my two hands
and said from my heart
into the soul of her

“I will not, fail you”

You took the hollow out of the marital promise with much expressiveness entwined with logical forethought and incite.

Very well done, indeed.

It is nice to see your softer side, wranx. Ready to see an angry one? I'm going to write a nice angry poem in Dark called "Burning web of lies," simply because I want to. Look for it! (maybe it'll get you "wranx"ed up)

Overcome the trivial
and it is all
trivial.

Being married I can relate to this line. Quite a bit of truth spoken in this poem.

My Hon and I have been married happily for 33 years. And every word you said is so so right on. A wonderfully encouraging poem on the joys of marriage.

“I will not, fail you”  I love this line...

Hi Wranx,

I wonder if we learn from our experiences. I seem to make the same mistakes over and over again, I'm simply more conscious of them now.

Good thought provoking poem.
