I cannot help but wonder-
How much longer I can last...
Leery of the future...
And running from the past.

Utopia, I've sought you-
But no where could I find...
The peace that I was seeking,
Lived only in my mind.

Some tell me I'm a hard man-
I'm not sure that is true...
For sadness tends to haunt me
And my memories make me blue.

I'm not afraid of dying-
If it will bring relief...
The living is what's killing me,
With sorrow and with grief...

For me death holds no terrors
I do not fear the grave-
The greatest enemy I have...
I look at as I shave.

I love it! What a killer ending! Wonderful meter, length, flow.... a wonderfully written poem. Very sad, very haunting and aching.... with a killer ending. I know what you mean in a lot of this... you wrote it out well, my friend. I have my peace in this life by my eternal future being secure in Christ - however, down here, in this life, peace can be a fleeting pursuit at times. I hope you find your peace soon.

Sincerely,
Titus
