I wake up in the morning
and realise I’m dead
I look into the mirror
and see I have no head
But then I think ‘what’s happening?’
With no head I couldn’t see
Then again I couldn’t think,
So how could all this be?
I go on out into the street
and everything’s OK
But some things are slightly strange
about this bright new day
The sky is green, the grass is blue,
the flowers sing Rolf Harris tunes
The birds are riding motorbikes
that run on juice from prunes
A dog says ‘Hello good morning’
as he takes his man for a walk
The man begins to bark a lot,
so the dog to him does talk
A cow bounces by along the road
riding a pogo stick
Some local youths go running round
using windows to smash a brick
A car goes past along the road
being driven by a frog
The car does not last long though,
‘twaz squashed by a giant hedgehog
I think that I should go lie down,
to try and get some sleep
But I find it hard to catch 40 winks
as I’m counted by sleepless sheep
As I settle down and close my eyes,
things become clear to me
As I drift into unconciousness,
into that dream called ‘reality’.

I like this. The way life is not what we perceive sometimes, and sometimes it just gets plain turned around. Though, I’ve gotta tell ya, that one line

the flowers sing Rolf Harris tunes

now I’ve got “Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport” running through my head!!. You do know it’s going to take days to get it out now!! Lol

great poem - some times things seem very different from what they should be and then we often stop to ponder what is reality - well done - welcome to Passions - Paul

Thanks for all your words of encouragement...  I will post a few more in the near future.... although I am affraid my efforts all tend to be basic rhyming ones... nothing too clever, but they help me to get my thoughts and feelings down on paper )  although what I was thinking when I wrote this one I am not quite sure hehe
