The clouds were all in line,
faced away from sun,
spreading past horizon
to the farthest sea.

Some were realized shapes;
others merely lines;
others parts of words
that spelled a book to read.

Trees would grasp to hold them,
skyscrapers would strain
to collect the radiance
of their calm refrain.

Of their silent musings.
Of their taste of sun.
Of their slow oncoming
to bring words' reflection.

I sat below in shadow
and watched them crawl above.
Leave the sunlight be, they wrote.
And please remember love.

*

Written after mugging myself in the Alley. And, a handy offering for the Taste of silence challenge.

Mikey

Really well written. And...Doesn't remind of Judy Collins at all

Glad you both enjoyed my strange idea of clouds being words issued from the sun's mouth (well, there's one interpretation, anyway).

And wranx, wasn't that the point?

Don't worry, I'll probably do one especially for Dark at some point. Love you, Lori.

And glad y' all enjoyed.

This is special, Mr.Squirrel....
You have just got to get a Judy Collins CD, She is of my generation (an old person) but her music is beautiful and her lyrics are mindful of some of your poems.
