I search, down through the cobwebs of my heart
Passing the corridors that have not seen or heard of love
Where the harp does only sing in silence at hope
And once desires die, in a cage created by fear

I wipe the eye of inner cry then hold the heart now torn
I hear the voice of hunger cry for loving to be born
I hear a prayer from emptiness, which fills and haunts the soul
That warmth and love might once appear, to make this body whole

But the cobwebs live to gather, just to congregate and grow
The corridors stay silent without change
The harp stays ever soundless, as hope brings no reply
The dream of ones foundation walks away

This sounds sad and lonely.

Hello Rick

This really pulled at my heartstrings as I felt so much sorrow through your words.

Take care....Sue

Thankyou everyone, I am not as sad as I seem, I came up with the first line and took it from there, poetry so often relates to love or lack of.

I wish you all much love.

Sincerely Rick

Thanks for your comments.

This is so desolate, I'm glad it's only poetry

Rick, I like the mixture of no rhyme, rhyme, no rhyme stanzas.  It reads thoughtfully, carefully, as if one was sharing a pondering moment...

thank you!
