The house is the same
A collection of
years and memories
gone silent
I wander through
My breath carefully weaving around them
in the narrow distance between
then and now
A frozen blink of space
nothing really touches
A deadzone

They are full
Holding their story in contentment
A rich deep breath at peace
with a beginning
and an end

And then there's me
Left over
Separate and
left behind
in a place I
no longer belong

Each day like
escalator steps
moving on without me
My foot hovering over each one tentatively
balancing on a thin clinging of hope and faith
Looking for one that might fit
a misfit
who's end came
and left her
behind

Putting you feelings in print can help ease the pain.

Thanks so much, everyone, and please - this write came after much healing.   It is the first time I've tried to express that time period in words, so although it does SOUND dark and depressing and like I'm falling off my own cliff, I'm really not.  Well, at least not today!  ~smiling~

It is good to write, even after the fact.
Writing about that which has hurt us often heals us.  Well done.

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.

I think many many people have gone through these feelings and yet have been unable to express it so artfully and expertly.  However, since you're still here, surely you are not 'left behind' rather that God's not finished with you yet.

I think many have the feelings you have, as well, without feeling they've gone on beyond their own end.
