Wind blows from the east,
howls among the gray monuments to grief.

How often I have tried to hold the wind.

Drifting moonlight touches,
strokes the graven stones.

So many times I've tried to snare its' beams.

Tendrils of the night
flutter from my helpless hands,
driven by the whirling wind.

Morning sun reveals bright flowers
scattered on the grass.

Flowers he will never see.

Think we have all been there a time or two.
Great lines.  Sometimes it is not the seeing but the understanding that holds the keys.  Great verse to describe the title perfectly.

Thanks Mark. It seems I can't sleep tonight, and thoughts are turning sad-wise.

Juanita, thanks -what a pretty picture you gave me.

SP, sometimes I'm sad. I guess I need to listen to some lively music to get me over it. NOT Lefty or Willie or Merle.

Thanks, Seymour. I rewrote it five or six times. I had plenty of time, since I couldn't sleep.

Paul, thank you. At least someone got something good out of my tossing and turning.

Lyra, I appreciate the chipmunk hugs. I know it's grim, but it's what I was thinking of. I couldn't shake it, so I wrote it.

Noah, I count on your kindness. Thanks.
