Come Twilight
When even on the stillest of nights
the air stirs just slightly
and night wakes
They enter my world
and I watch

Quickly, swooping and racing
from one set of trees to another
Wings beating a frantic pace
like the pulse of a nightmare
Oblivious or uncaring of me in the moments we share
The flames of the candles dancing around me join their madness
and I shudder slightly in silence

That I have not seen them before, I know now
does not mean they were not here
It was only that my eyes
refused to see

Hey tea lady...eyes that refuse to see. I ponder this often.

I enjoyed the depth of this, and found it well-written and thoughtful. I look forward to reading more from you. Welcome!

Thank you so much Magnus and Mistletoe Angel.  I really didn't mean to walk in with bats and dark emotions but, well, lookie there.  I sure did.

I do really appreciate the kind welcome.

Thank you too, serenity.  After reading your poem tonight I'm positively cringing.  What a cliche "Eyes that refuse to see".  I'll work on that though, and will truly enjoy reading the other work here.  Your poem really was outstanding.  I will learn much, I am certain.

The word pictures are very effective here.  I'd like to see some punctuation, and a bit more attention to complete sentences.  The piece would benefit from it,  I know.

Yours in peace,

Dean

I really enjoyed the aspect of thoughts in this piece.  Awakenings can be the pure definition of the word and you leave much for us to ponder with this one.  Your line breaks and resistance to follow patterned verse gave much to the enjoyment of this piece as well as you place them quite well.  Look forward to reading more works and please accept a belated welcome to Passions.

serenity - burst out laughing!  Ah, I enjoy your humor, and your warm welcome.  A delightful group you all have here.  I shall enjoy getting to know everyone.

R. Dean. - I appreciate your thoughts on this piece and I will think on your suggestions.   I've never honestly even considered punctuation or complete sentences in my poetry.  Thank you for the advice.

And Marge, Goodknight, and Charles:  My goodness.  You are all so kind.  Thank you, for this warm welcome into your group.
Mark - Thank you so much for your thoughts on this poem.  You've given me much to think about.  It does help to have different eyes take a look at something, for what they might see that we don't.  Thank you also for the welcome.
