In Memory Of My Dad:
Warren "Newie" Wallace who passed away July 23, 1994

Somewhere In Missing You

Somewhere in the middle of feeling Gods will
These past eight years have just stood still
Though with time I haven't lost sight of you
Somewhere in missing you, Dad, I died, too...

God, I'm reminded, finding, where you may be
Somewhere in missing you, Dad, I lost me
The unforgettable haunts this heart especially this day
Somewhere in missing you, Dad, life was taken away...

I'm here with memories running the path of these tears
And, with it resides the pain of those eight years
You never looked for bigger or better things
And, somewhere in missing you, Dad, those words still sing...

We struggled to live each day one by one
But, somewhere in missing you, Dad, that's all I want
To relive what money couldn't lend us then
And, somewhere in missing you, Dad, I want family again...

It's an empty cry to the heavens to send you home
Somewhere in missing you, Dad, I feel certain to alone
We had it all one sweet moment in life
Somewhere in missing you, Dad, I beg for one more night...

A daughters fight to have what she can't hold
A moment long ago that should remain old
But, it doesn't, and I dance, to sadness at heart
Somewhere in missing you, Dad, I can't accept we're apart...

Somewhere in missing you I drown with each passing year
I'll be saved when sweet Jesus brings you back here
Just kind thoughts of you beneath our skies back then
Somewhere in missing you, Dad, finds me wanting that again...

On this day look down at a daughters plea to be free
From this pain and loneliness that won't leave me be
I love you still more then I can pen on this page
Somewhere in missing you, Dad, hear what I say...

It's us, all that a family once was
Everything a great Father was made of
If the heavens were closer I'd reach for you
But, somewhere in missing you, Dad, our time is through...

Behold, what I'll never hold, the missing one
Rest assure I'll be running to you when my time has come
At last, our past, will be once more
Somewhere in missing you, Dad, is what I'm living for...

Thank you for sharing something so very personal. I am sorry for your loss.
I love the closeness you have put into this. It sounds like you and your father had a wonderful relationship. I'm glad you have been blessed with that.

A truly wonderful poem, Saunni.

Saunni,
I'm so sorry for your loss. You have expressed so well the grief of loss that time doesn't heal. My heart aches for your loss much like it does for my own. Peace to you dear friend.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
