I Am a Conch Shell

It’s through a maze
to find the heart of me
yet
should you listen well,
you may hear the roar
crying out,
as the ocean
exudes its life,
as it splatters the shore
then ebbs
in relaxation,
waning its energies
that they may be restored.

Quietly it retreats
gathering energy
to burst again
its excitement of living.

Yes
listen,
seek
with perseverance;
you may find
who I really am
deep down inside
where whispers begin
then build
as they spiral
their way to be free.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

It's been years since I've been here and it was kind of fun to read something I wrote so long ago.

I've hardly written any poetry since and would love to get going on it more in earnest again.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
