Remember days when that sign ruled?
You said goodbye with it and more
It meant something inside your heart
That we could bring an end to war.

Remember when we marched en masse
to say the fghting has to end?
It didn't do us that much good
we felt still it would happen then.

Remember days when there was love
around each corner and each door
For everywhere, your brother lived
It's just not like that anymore.

I miss those times, they felt so real
now nothing has hope in that way
We still want peace, we still have war
how much things change, and yet they stay.

As long as man is around looking for a way to place himself higher......than I don't know that we will ever find peace.  Being equal to the earth should be enough and God shows us that in all he gives but let's face it........this world is greedy.  Very nice inspired write from you.  Always nice to see inspiration bloom and yours did that quite well.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Sandra, this is soooooo well-said, sweet friend, I wish I could have lived during those times because life was probably much more easier and friendly then! I wish we could all find the heart to follow our hearts and rebel like that still, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sandra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sandra

We talked of peace and love back then, talk of it still today, in the wake of so many changes..the circle continues.  Peace and love are still good things to hope for.  Enjoyed this..

So true Sandra!
I was there at the time but it seems that we have the same struggles remaining after all these years.
I share your feelings of sadness but am also forced into the stream of life where things are where they are now.
I really appreciate this pondering write...thanks!

Excellent write, and now that is so true, the more things seem to change the more they stay the same.  Up here we took in all the draft dodgers as they were called back then, and marched for peace right along with you.  I miss those days so much.

Nothing means more to me than faith,
family and my friends.

Yes, I remember that sign and atmosphere very well.  Young people seemed to have a common bond back then that they now lack.  Good work, Sandra. *hugs*

Yes, very nice write. I was there and remember those times very well. I traveled freely across the country with just a backpack, a guitar and a lot of innocent aspirations. I have asked many times in the past few years where have all those people gone and how did we get so swallowed up into the corporate feed. I know they are out there and will speak to the generations to come.If ever there was a calling I believe it is now! Bless this poem as a reminder of what was and an aspiration of what we should strive for have again.

I remember those days well, Sandra...
They seem so innocent now, but that was serious stuff back then, before we had terrorists blowing up buildings and airplanes.
I miss the sixties so very much...thanks for bringing them back.

Oh how sad that our efforts in the 60's did not teach us much for the 00's.

If we do not learn from the past, we cannot step into a future of peace. And that is sad for our children.  You did a wonderful job writing this. I hope you don't mind, I printed it out and hung it on my refrig for my children to read and for all of us to remember that we must continually yearn for peace.  Hugs, Marti

To coin words from a song...."Those were
the days my friend,  those were the days"

Or something very similar....I think it was
from that era...

I remember it very very well......1967...
Vietnam going full bore....trying not to
get drafted.....joining the U.S. Navy...
So young.....

Thanx for a very memory laden poem of
another time and place.....when love
was free and war was something so many
wanted to forget...but could not...
