"Why?", you ask, do my fingers,
on their own volition,
steal trace to swollen lips; held residue your kiss,
placed upon in shadow of the moon,
pulsing warmth, wrought
and bound.

Mirrored in the wall,
reflection's truth I ask
what balmy shade will hide all evidence-
soft cream of peach to prove a quiet stroll-
a muted rose; serenity
so coy?

Lacking pastel, no hint of blood-tinged red,
but in the crumpled linen;
past rapture smeared.

I will not hang my head,
shamed
to look you in the eye;
scorn me if you must
but don't
ask why.

Loved the way you ended this one.  Your words are filled with conviction and the whole poem reads with power.  Very intense write and much enjoyed.

Mark, thank you. *s (I was hoping it had that "finality" tone to it.)

Dorene, I think you captured the tone very well.  Nice write.

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.

Somehow? this just called out to me...

and? chanson? I read this and have to wonder how much more of you I have missed. So many poems, so little time...?

You write like lace.

Gentle Spirit- Thank you, fellow PA'er! *s

serenty- I guess you just have that kind of name. (Not like Chanson. I've yet to read a poem with my name in it. *L)
So many poems here it is impossible to catch them all so no worries. Thanks for reading! *s
