Lovely picture, a very thought provoking poem, and with questions I am sure each of us asks once at least.  I choose to believe that this is but a stepping stone to greater things, and so when and if you ever do die, as I am sure you will and so will I, wear a red scarf so I will know you okay

Nothing means more to me than faith,
family and my friends.

Beautiful, spiritual writing, Lyra.

All I can say is, whatever happens in our lives, however long or short our time is, I sure hope there's poetry in th' next phase/world/afterlife/whatever. I'd miss your words too much if that weren't th' case!

Thanks so much, Lori...
I don't see myself as a flower though...
What I will be, is the chipmunk who is chomping on all the flower bulbs.

Thanks so much, Marti...
Isn't it amazing how a small child could be so wise?
It makes me wonder if she knew something which we don't.

Karilea...thanks so much for your lovely reply.
I usually wear flats and sandals, thats why I'm not used to high heels.  These weren't even really high heels...they were very high wedges, but like high heels, they do change the way our bodies move and they affect our posture.  If I really get too concerned about it, I'll get a bone scan...but maybe I really don't want to know what it is anyway.
I suppose that at least I can look at this as provoking my muse...
As far as heaven is concerned...its probably not too bad a place, but I hope not to visit there anytime soon...
or maybe its like NYC... A nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Nancy...thanks so much for that amazing compliment.  It is so nice to be an inspiration, but I must say that I am most inspired by all of the wonderful poets I have met here...and of course, most notably...you and Karilea and everyone else.
If I ever do go to heaven, I sure hope there is a website like this one there.

Thanks so much Paul (Goodknight)...
I do agree with you that the things that we do, live on forever...both good and bad things.
Our children also carry our legacy into the future.

Thanks so much, Nan...Of course...now why didn't I realize that you would have all of the answers...
and the most important thing about heaven is that there will be poetry there...and there will be poets who will write heavenly poetry.
Now we just need a heavenly poetry website in heaven and we will be all set.  That way, we will all have a place to post our heavenly poetry.

Thanks so much for replying to my poem, Paul (Wilson)
To open a door without knowing what is on the other side takes great courage, but open it we must to embrace what is on the other side or we will never know the joy that awaits us.
I really love that remark...and I know that it certainly is true here on earth...and so it must be a universal truth.
I'm so glad that what you had turned out to be ONLY a scare.  Many of us aren't quite that lucky, but sometimes it takes a scare to get our thought processes ticking.

Thanks so much, Sharon....
Will you be able to recognize me with the red scarf?   What if others have that same idea?
Maybe we should both wear signs with our names on them...like people at airports who are meeting someone they have never seen before...
Or maybe there is a special way for spirits to recognize each other and we won't need any signs or red scarves...

Thanks Mr.Squirrel...
There just has to be poetry in the next life or in heaven or whatever comes after this life...
The question is.....whether there are poetry websites such as Piptalk, where we will meet the most wonderful loving poet friends...
I sure hope there are..
b/c I'd miss your poetry too.

How can any one of us possibly know all of the feelings that are running around at a pace that would overwhelm the most healthy of persons.  Fear affects us all....It sometimes control our every move,  or every hesitancy or how we balk at doing something that is hard....or is UNKNOWN....such as
that darkness of death....If we believe and
we have faith...there will be life beyond
mortal death...   I pray for you each day that you will continue to live here with us,
with your own family....with you friends and those that will forever remember you as a courageous lady who has left a definite imprint in our hearts....  Be tough,  but be realistic....  take care and I Hope that all turns out well for you....

PS...I want you to know that fear has caused me many worries over the last 10 years or so....and guess what....so far..
not a one has been what I feared it was...
and all was well....

Thanks so much for your reply, Barry...
The human mind is so powerful that it has actually been known to cure people of diseases without any other medical intervention.
One thing I do know for sure, is that if we have faith in something working for us...it is very likely to work, but if we have no faith...it probably won't...
and fear causes tremendous problems but its also hard not to be afraid sometimes...and I am definitely finding myself in that position sometimes...where I don't want to be afraid...but it just overwhelms me.  Usually this happens in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.

Karilea...I really meant that.  Wouldn't it be nice if we could visit heaven just long enough to get a glimpse of it and then come back here to our lives on earth.
Of course this could never happen because that would upset the entire order of things.
I really do believe very strongly, that we aren't supposed to know about such things for a reason....but I don't know what the reason is.
Maybe someday, we will all find out...in fact, I'm sure we will all find out, but we probably won't be able to come back here and tell everyone.

Well Karilea...I just hope that no one saw you fall off a chair that has arms LOL...
I'm glad I was able to give you a chuckle on a dark subject.
I grew up in NYC and I can tell you that it really could simulate an afterlife of sorts.
The New York subways at rush hour on a hot summer day, are probably something akin to hell....although Victor says that they now are air conditioned...
Maybe hell is air conditioned now also.

Mortality can be terrifying... I know I'm only 18, but last September, my right hand just started shaking out of nowhere (still hasn't stopped, and the doctors still haven't given me any answers), and I was absolutely sure for the first month that I had developed a brain tumor, and that would be the end of everything. But no matter your age or experience, the whole thought of death is always going to be overwhelming, especially since no one knows what will happen.

Beautiful poem. I wish you luck.

Oh my dear sweet Lyra! I understand your fear. My brother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer not long after he and my sister were married. They gave him 6 months to live. They were going to do surgery. But, when they took another look, the cancer was completely gone. This is what I want for you.

I have my special angel watching over you.
Love and Hugs I send you.

I think I'll see you in heaven, how's that?..this one's very deep...we've always questioned where we go, once our bodies give up..guess those questions will continue. Like Larry says you're a lady with lot's of class, keep up your philosophical rhetorical writes

Faterider...
thanks so much for your reply.
I have just always been a very curious person and people are always telling me that I ask too many questions...
Many times, I get answers when I ask questions, but to these questions...I think I will only get the answers when it is too late to tell them to everyone.
