Slow man's land...

One does not rush
when the sun of southern desert
burns through summer sky
such that even dust
coughs and wheezes with effort
under the wheels of passing
nomadic trailer

This is slow man's land
a place where speed kills
and the slow survive by conserving
energy and hiding from the blinding daytime

It is not lazy behavior
to contemplate before moving
to consider before acting
when the fires of all hell burn under your feet
and each step could be the first of the last
or the last of the first
you ever take

I remember those places
when I talk with you...
and with parched throat try
to answer your questions

You don't know how slowly
I strolled through this
...and how sad I was
to come to the end

Ron

A nomad's trailer..the perfect example of slow man's land.  You painted him well...and then personalized with that end touch.  Enjoyed!
