A Cold Mourning
July 16, 2002

A cold and haunting mourning.
My light just lost its shine.
I've spent hours this morning
just waiting for a sign.

A cold and haunting mourning
no longer she dances or sings.
Emerald eyes are closed forever,
such sorrow silence brings

Her cherub lips are cold as ice
and haven't made a sound.
My promise to let go
sent my angel heaven bound.

I’ve exiled her to the clouds
to be carried on her wings.
A cold and haunting mourning,
she no longer dances or sings.

This was the time to say goodbye
and let a loved one free...
It was a cold and haunting mourning,
as I let her slip away from me.

Dear Sharon, may she rest in peace.
You've done a great job in keeping her memory alive this past year sweet lady.

S-H-A-R-O-N,
If that isn't a gift then nothing is! Spectacular and touching. I really, really like this and it fed my heart.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Such a beautiful title Sharon ... it compliments the emotions you've woven so delicately throughout this piece. This is a wonderfully emotional tribute to your dear friend, and I'm sending heart hugs your way for touching me so gently with these tender thoughts this morning. I'll be thinking about you ... about Willow ... and about how fortunate you are to have such incredible memories of someone so exceptional in your life. Take care, you ...

Best wishes and big hugs,
/Kit

When love slips away, or life, it is always a cold and haunting feeling that overcomes us.  This is so very beautiful, my friend, in such a very sad, but tender way. My thoughts go with you...

Open the door and let your adventure begin!!!

Sure Larry! ( I won't tell a soul what you called me last night if you don't?

Dear Friends, (and I mean you all), without all of you this would have been a year I could not have endured, and that is a the absolute truth.  I have filled it with everything I could to busy myself to take away the pain felt last year at this time.  I was told that time heals all wounds, and have found it helps, but sometimes we just find a better place for that pain, learn from it, and call upon it on days we somehow need it with its new companion, memories.  That is where I am heading right now with this life long friend.  She is always with me, but we both are moving on now, and I had promised in one year I would quit doing several things that do keep the pain alive and writing poetry that you all so kindly comment on is one of them, so we both thank you for being part of the process, and I am glad you liked my farewell poem to her.  You are all so very special to me too in your own way.

Nothing means more to me than faith,
family and my friends.

Sharon..this beautifully heartwrenching poem evokes much in me personally, I know how hard this process is and I know the emotional cost it can come with...The depth of the sadness and loss in your words speak volumes to me...There is no time frame on healing...each must be allowed to come to the point of "letting go" on their own terms.
Your desire to keep a promise and honor her is admirable... but I believe that there are many poems left inside of you...when your heart is as strong as your promise...I believe there will be another poem of "letting go" that will be will be filled with the joy found in the healing that only time can bring. It wont matter whether or not its posted...it will be just for you and her. I guess what Im trying to say here is...keep your poetic promise...but give yourself all the time you need in the letting go.

It's that feeling that someone is standing behind me
And I turn around and there's no one there
And it's the sensation that someone just whispered
Yeah and I still hear your voice but you're not really here
Your memory is like a ghost
And my heart is it's host
There's a place you've touched
With your love no one gets close to
I can still feel you, I can still feel you.

~~~~~~~~~~~
There are moments
When I love you
Beyond the limits of my human heart
I want to hold you
And take care of you
The way the angels watch over the stars
Past the pull of earth
Across the deep blue sky
Through the universe
Beyond the reach of time
You will always be mine
