THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT !! I stand 'neath your window my body aglow, calling your name, you're in there I know. I havn't been home for two days maybe more. I know you are mad and of this I'm sure. I stand legs apart, as if swaying in wind, a victim of whisky, I know I have sinned. I shouldn't have done it, I know this of course, my minds full of sorrow, self pity, remorse. I finished work early last Friday, you see. The boss sent a Memo for a meeting with me. As I entered her office she poured me a drink, Said 'Celebrate your departure - what do you think?' I said I was sorry we'd had the affair, and knew we should end it that moment, right there, but with drink and the tiredness, I really was numb, so to make my life easy, I had to succumb. Driving home later, in a fit of the blues, I stopped at a bar to get me some booze. A lovely young lady called me down the bar, said 'Hello Darlin' - lets go to my car!' I woke up next morning with eyes open wide, found an ugly old lady lying there by my side, I made my excuses, ran back into town, to settle my nerves, a few drinks I threw down. Now I am home and much worse for wear, Please open the door and tell me you care, I really don't need my things you are throwing, I've had it with you, to my ex-wife I am going. Oh what the hell man....pour another two fingers of scotch, (in a number two wash basin)....things will work out yanno.....my wife was the same way but worse...she cut me down to once a month.....(she cut some of my friends off all together)...... |
