Voices In My Head

The sickness is spreading
I can feel the disease
I’m in no condition to live
I’d let you drive but I’ve lost the keys
working its fingers through my system
soul sick heart broken mind is numb
Is the way you look at me
a harbinger of things to come?
to this continued insult
you’re the poison in my bloodstream
                                nothing is as it seems

                                falling apart at the seams
boiling me from the inside
and this undead thing I’m becoming
shhh, I can hear the nightmare coming
the voices in my head
the person you fell in love with is finally dead
argue instead of talk
and I’m just screaming for silence
when did all of this stop making sense?
as I try to hold this silly smile in place
as this mask made of tears rolls down my face

ahh..but at least the tears are only a mask, and masks eventually come off to show the we behind them, right? *sigh* I should hope so. I love this, Jeff. It could also be a song, and if its in tune with your life right now, I wish you well.

I will not bend to the cowardice of a silent judgement.

Jeff my good friend. . .you knew that I'd find this here didn't you???

well, I'll echo Jenn's thoughts here about masks. . . and say that sometimes, the mask comes back on. . .

great work man . . .

loner,
Thank you; glad you enjoyed it.

Jenn and John,
Yes, masks eventually do come off; I'm just wondering what my "real" face will look like. It's kinda like the cliche'd bit when a character in a movie removes mask after mask only to reveal the "face" he originally started with.

Paula,
... but you have to promise to whisper to me in the dark so I can close my eyes and let your words settle like soft breath on my face...

I know nothing of masks other than what the Phantom wears...

I DO know, however, that we have been too long without seeing your name, or your thoughts....

stop that.  Stay.  Write.  Enjoy....

Gale,
I am optimistic I've missed you too... and thank you for the compliment. What's been up with you?

Noah,
Thank you for your always comforting words of encouragement.

Sunshine,
I plan on staying this time, although to tell the truth, I never really went away. I went through a schizophrenic period where I was convinced that I had to drop the "rascalx" ID as it represented another time and stage of my life. It took me awhile to realize that actually "rascalx" is who I am most comfortable being (and writing as) and that "he" is just another facet of Jeffrey E. Osborne. (Do I sound warped or WHAT? lol)
So, I am back and ready to share my thoughts again with the world
                    see you in Passions
