Under The Willow Tree

I drove past it the other day
and I had to think of you
and this dream that's shared
between we poets two.

Such a beautiful sight
yes, it was a willow tree
and of all things underneath it
a wicker chair there had to be!

It was a fairly shady spot
where two friends could meet
to just enjoy the beautiful day
and the sunset then to greet.

I haven't forgotten that dream
and how someday it might come true
and how great it would be
to sit under the willow tree with you!

Perhaps it is just a dream
it might come true~ you never know~
but in our thoughts and hearts
it's a special place that we can go.

somy~ Reg you are precious..
(and you thought I had forgotten...)

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.

This title just caught my eye. Because the weeping willow tree is my favorite kind of tree. When I was about 10 or 11 years old there was one over on the next block. I use to walk over on the next block just to look at it. LOL! I thought it was the most beautiful tree I had ever seen.
I love this picture. And, your poem is just beautiful.

Thanks to you all so very much!  Funny thing is there really was a wicker chair under this willow tree by a lake...and my mind wondered to Reg that day....and remembered...what a beautiful thought it was! It was just wonderful.  I couldn't believe I found this pic!!  Monet was perfect!

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.

How I would love to sit in that chair with a cool glass of lemonade and a good book and just waste away the hours. This was such a calm, soothing poem.

Thank you for your beautiful imagery.

You do the split rhyme pattern so smoothly that you almost make it your own.  The image is soft and alluring with a gentleness that is the language of the willow tree for sure.  Beautiful write you honor your friend with and for us, you leave us with a nice relaxing setting to keep in the back of our minds.
