Do not ask me, "How are you?"
I just might bore you with the truth.

Do not ask, "How have you been?"
Your ears might bleed in "neverend."

Don't ever ask, "What are your plans?"
Even I don't understand.

Complaints, complaints eternally.
I am the princess. Life, the pea.

Lovely words, nicely placed in their own special silken thread.
I lived many years in Arabia, and they have their own special 'formalised' greeting when they meet.
'Sabaah Al Kheer' (Greetings this day)
Reply - 'Mahrse Al Kheer' (It is a Good Day)
'Qif Haaliq' (How are you?)
Reply - 'Thaib Al Hamdu l'Allah' (Great, thanks be to God)
These same words are spoken, if the wife has run away with the garbage collector, the house has just burned down, or Granddad has just died.
The moral of my ramblings is:- No-one wants to hear bad news, so don't give it to them.
I think this is what you are saying.
Kind thoughts,
John

Succinct. Freaks folks out when they receive an honest answer. When calling a businesses beleagured receptionist I'll often first say "How are you?" Can't tell you how often this is followed by silence then "Who's this?" Keep tellin' 'em how it is and it may cure them.
