A Cloudy Day

Some days I feel like I have lost my way,
stuck and motionless going nowhere.
But just because I'm in this space,
doesn't mean I don't know where to go.

Some days I reach out and no one is there,
I feel powerless, and can't seem to control
the happenings in my life.
Maybe I can't find support or maybe
my friends aren't around for advice.

I have heard you mention this to me before,
and it is true, all I can do
is learn the meaning of acceptance.

I may not be moving  quickly enough,
or seem to you to be moving at all,
but maybe it's just that I have to stay as I am for now,
wait until the breezes blow, and the clouds pass by
allowing the sun, the moon and the stars
to shine and guide me once more.

And so it is that I wait...in this space,
the rains on this day keeping me here,
but today, I accept this, I accept you,
I accept whatever is to be, as I slowly make my way
back to the top.

I won't be deterred by inner feelings of doubts, the dread
that sometimes invades my dreams, nor the sadness
that seeps into me when disappointed.
I have enough love within to  give to myself
and more than enough to share.

And for my friends who have watched me ebb and flow,
wax and wane, sink to only rise again, I offer thanks
and love and tears that will be on this day,
as I await the movement of those clouds...
and in this way, I wish to say,
"I love you all."

and in rhyme:

In rains today I find a peace,
the silent sounds, the misting of
the inner me that use to be
with clouds of darkness, comes a love

Of knowing that I have my friends
close at hand, of distance, too
to resurrect, to build me strong
accepting life, with all its due.

I cannot wish for more to have,
nor dare not cry for loss of need,
or once what was, those use to be's
I have my own, my strength to feed.

Sometimes I reach to you, my source,
a fellow traveler going my way
to guide me through, to take a hold
to share our light, a path to stay.

How greatful, I, to make it here
to find the warmth that rose to meet
exchanging "comfort" words to soothe
and channel calm to life's defeat.

Impossible to say it well,
this second home that rhythms me.
But just as nature has its flow,
I am at peace, when here I be.

M

*like many others on here, I came by way of a death in my family, feelings unexpressed, an internet connection, and an explosion of words that found their way to poetry..and another poet who sensed my need to be where others cared and I thank him...

Four presents in one...free verse, rhymed verse, a new photo to smile at, and a gift of the heart...

thank you Maureen, for seeing past the clouds, and for growing in the rain...

As always, you have expressed yourself strongly and in a beautiful way.
We all have been through hard times to get here, it seems, and apparently the hard times never end. But there is so much comfort here.

I believe you've expressed very well in these two poems. Warmth radiates. Enjoyed

You've captured the essence so many of us feel, in two so very different formats Maureen ... and you've done it so very beautifully. Very much enjoyed.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Expressed perfectly Maureen
upon each ebb and flow
sometimes losing others times winning
I have known you as a wonderful poet right from the beginning

Kethry...you are too sweet...*s..I enjoy your words, also..and hope to make your acquaintance soon.
Thank You,
Maureen

RS...I appreciate your reading my short explanation of why I am here..I wonder how many came to the internet, discovered the poetry sites and needed an outlet for their sorrows...I thank you for responding and wish to tell you I enjoy your poems, though I am very poor at interpreting sometimes *s
I think I have lived too simple a life until recently.

Kit ...thank you...I hope you are feeling well. I always look forward to your words.

HopeS..I should mention that you brought me to the poetry forums shouldn't I..and if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have been led to this one.
