Listening to every heart

The day the Sun shone – How I came to Passions

It was a regular day, perhaps,
to anyone else looking in,
someone was hurting, someone was laughing,
someone began a change of life,
someone stepped into
a rite of passage by light.

On that ordinary day,
there flourished the need,
from seeds planted so very
long ago
by a dusky voice,
who read of a cat
on a linoleum floor,
and of a street far away but
still echoing foghorns
of come back
come back

to your destiny.

Do you know where desire lives?

Sometimes it rests in the pit
of your mind, then travels
to a heart’s ache, sometimes growling
in the depths of your bone,
making you wander the
night, searching for a place
to consign your mind.

Sometimes it is salt within
a tear, an inexpressible catch in the
back of your throat, or invisible hands
in the clutch of your breast, all
for the want to articulate

the same.

Years ago, before many were born,
when many had tread miles I now
walk, a passion had been stirred,
by one’s placing on paper
cuneiform inscription;
that is when it first began…

and a light dawned.

It is said,
everything comes for a reason,
though there will be those
who argue against fate, or kismet,

but to those of us who believe
in ourselves,
against all others
who would tell us,

there is no life for a dreamer,
a poet,
an artist,
a singer,
a magician,
a seer,
a pianist, violinist, guitar man,
storyteller, dancer, builder of hope,
visionary of travel, or
romanticists,

then I say,

just smile,
and turn to your Passions

for if you are reading this,
then you know why you
are here,

and I bid you,
dream on.

~*~

Dedicated to all of the poets who have graced and have grown with me in the last three years at Passions, to all of those who will leave for other Passions, and to all of those who are just now finding their way to their dreams.  Thank you for all you have given me, and for taking a moment to read what little I have to share with you.  You have made good things happen, in ways you never knew.

I am too emotional today, and this just opened up the flood gates.  It is a great time to be alive and dream a little dream.  The passion in your words are timeless as is the warmth of your sun that shines endlessly.

Thank you for this~

Kari,
where else would you be but here
a prophetess and seer
who else would hold our heart
when the teardrops start
Who else could we turn to
on these pages blue
when else could we transcend
and find the magic friend
and who else but you
could write pictures like you do.

I for one am glad you are here.

Kari darling heart sister I thank HIM for guiding my footstepd and you for shedding the sun always. Awesome writing and so packed with truth, perfect and beautifully written truths, that speak of souls desire, and hearts butterfly wishes

Inside the dream to write the line
The thought takes on a shape of fine
And written down in smile or tear
The thought is etched on pages dear
The truth revealed for all to see
Written in heart’s inked poetry
Take not the pain without the sun
In hope and love a soul’s begun
To write the thought show the face
To tell of heart’s limping race
Within the soul the light must shine
Inside the dream you write the line

Than you darling heart

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Karilea,
It doesn't get better than this. I have so far to go...this was just excellent and I love it. Thank you ever so much for being here and being my friend.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I'm not usually much for following challenge poems, but I've read a few of these and have found myself glad to know the poet just a little bit better.  Nice to meet ya!

Did you hear
  the call or
    feel it what
what difference therein known

Is it enough
  the words called as
    they poured forth a torrent
what was could be unleashed too hidden

Too long twixt slumbers wonders met light
of day the name not self-bestowed only      lifted      back  to breast
Restored the I within the eye

Illuminations giving only a tiny gift
candle lighted one by one till all sees
     within halo of rebirths understanding
leaving only Tomorrows insight in light

Would that the palace fortress souls would
  embrace that gift of self-revealing
thinking what might not have been
without the blood of the sunrise

From which no eyes of heart may avert
twas always thus shackled in corners light-
less would all be now without the fusion
      of pure ennobled Sunshine

Light thou art
   Light thou gives
     Light your footsteps bearing
Light in one and one enthralling

                 Life
            That is light
          Nous Somme Du Solei

Where rainbow touches earth
place your foot upon the light illuminating forever- EternitysHorizon
Often see, rarely touched
Rise if ye seek to see

You know when you leave Ole Wordy here stripped of her verbosity, you've accomplished miracles. *G* And you do so frequently. *S*

The Sun was shining when I arrived... and I've been grateful for her warmth ever since. *S*

I will always be thankful for that Sun. . . it was something that I needed (and still do). . .

this is why I'm here. . . thank you. . .

I loved this so much I had to read it again, to make sure it really happened that such words exist in tandem.

Wow, Karilea.
