I was born at a very early age, and went to a very 'Posh' school in England, where we were taught Nursery Rhymes in 'Queens English' (Actually, at that time it was 'Kings English')

LITTLE JACK HORNER

Dimuntive John Horner was seated at the confluence of two walls,
partaking of a delicious pastry.
Inserting his prime digit,
he withdrew a fruit of the family 'prunus'
Exclaiming 'What a prodigious child I am!'

THE OLD LADY OF CLYDE

There was an old lady of Clyde,
Who ate a bad apple and died.
The apple fermented
inside the lamented,
And made cider inside her inside.

Such memories, remembered for over 60 years !!!!

Music Maker,
I can see why sunnyone would love you.I'm not sure whether I preferred the Jack Horner one more or the cider inside her line. Both made me chuckle.

Thank you Seymour and Kethry - As you can now see, I am no poet, but an entertainer!!!
If I could write such beautiful words as found in this forum, I would designate myself as a Musician/Songwriter.   Sadly, I remain a musician !!!!!

Hi John, this made me smile, a good thing too, as there was sad news earlier.
Thanks.

Thanks to everyone for their comments.
Its nice to give 'smiles and chuckles' rather than 'Doom and Gloom', and I will continue to post the more amusing type of non-poetic 'rubbish' here, for so long as it just makes someone smile !!!

Thank you Noah,
It just makes me wonder - The word 'limerick'?  Its a town in Ireland, and  I wonder if the first verse in this meter  and in a funny vein was written there.  Or was Limerick the town called that, because its inhabitants walked around in poetic mode all day? - The mind boggles, especially at this unearthly hour on a Sunday morning.
Kind thoughts, as always, dear friend,
John

I love that line: "and made cider inside her inside"  What a great one, MM, and another light-hearted poke at those of us who take our poetry a little more seriously!!  We love ya though!!  (I do, anyway!!)

Open the door and let your adventure begin!!!
