"That Guy"
© 2002 Brian Eggertsen, All Rights Reserved

Verse 1
There's this beautiful girl Shauna is her name
she think she will end up all alone in the end,
after reading my lyric Mary Kate she said:
"That'll be me in sixty years or so, my friend".
So I sang to her and I said:

Chorus
My dearest Shauna, I can be your night in shiny armor,
if the prince on the white horse doesn't write or call.
My dearest shauna, when everything seems to feel like a blur,
I can be the one to catch you if you should fall.
My dearest Shauna, I'm no Casanova but give me a try,
'cause if everything else fail I can be that guy.

Verse 2
Then she said: "You've been in the sun too long
'cause us angels are just like super stars",
I took her hand in mine and gently said:
"But an angel can't fly with a broken heart".
So I whispered to her I said:

Bridge
If I could play the piano
I'd play her a simple love serenade,
then I'd pick up paper and pen
speak straight from my heart 'fore it got too late.
And I'd write her a song that said:

This is such a lovely ballad... I say ballad because that's how I can see it being sung, a ballad with a slight rock beat . I love the chorus and I especially liked the second verse; the way you try to convince her ...
"But an angel can't fly with a broken heart".
... This is beautiful, loved it .
