Listening to Myself

Have I exploded yet with my need
to speak to you of things
that whisper into the soft neck
of my ticking clock

Have you seen me color up to sunset
and slowly sink my feelings
along the line of your deepening night
until all you see is the silvered palm tree
and all you hear is this whistle
that slides down stars
and drops like hot wax into your listening

I still dream in buckets full
of long legged youth
where I run and don’t fall
climb and not weary
and somewhere along the way
I lost all those tears
soaked the years with them
until flowers grew in each depression
and I forgot the reason

Could it be that I am content
to sit here talking with my fingers
as the afternoon breeze stirs
the trees outside the window

The soft neck of my ticking clock
doesn’t care for emotional outbursts
it is not tempted by the patterns that I draw
that take the mind backward
but it does yearn still for some truth
that I know I left in the curves of sand
where I still see my bodies print
full of beguile and calling the tide

Do not listen to me dredge this day
I say to the afternoon of white paper
and lazy dog flicking ears disinterest

It is enough that I listen to myself
or is it

when you are full of beguile....all I can do is smile...this is classic Martie poetry and one of my faves of yours...each time i read it i see something not touched or tasted...thats what make your poetry timeless and so impressive.

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much ...
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch.

Does this mean that you actually hear what WE hear when we read you?  I certainly hope so because we hear "Martie-nifique" in every syllable you whisper and every letter you sign.  Definitely one of the favs of yours for all those that pay attention.  Beautiful and inspiring as well as thought provoking.

(smiles) Oh Martie, this is sooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, yes, I always believe it is enough to listen to yourself, sometimes nature can be so cruel and then that is what makes us doubt that, yet it is inevitable and it is just something that comes and goes yet believing is what makes anything possible! (kiss on cheek) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
