~Emeralds In The Dark~

Amidst the sylvan woodscape
in dark of tangles unspoiled, wild
sits a magical tower of emeralds
her gracious foliage rustles wind

luminous and glossy
her enchantment, pristine
unsullied, but for for the woodland creatures
who eat of her seed

her vigorous arborescent boughs
in sharp contrast
to the shadowy lush of her surroundings

In winter
snowflakes gather on her graceful branches
she honors them

in autumn
her colors laughingly parade
red and yellow

in summer
her leaves dance
emeralds in the dark
~

Beautiful pic, nature's poet.  It's a great time of year, isn't it?

A great way of describing the beauty of nature.... and together with the picture it's even more impressive!

A beauty of a poem!

Thanks so much, Duncan...
The tree just looked so pretty with the sun shining on that one bough, that I had to capture it with my camera....
and when I got the pic back it looked so beautiful that I had to capture it's beauty with words.
This tree is right off our livingroom deck.
Its a perfectly symmetrical maple tree.

Thanks so much, Sy...
I love that tree...
It's branches hang almost to the edge of our livingroom deck, so it is almost like a piece of outdoor furniture.

It was one of those pictures which just begged to be snapped and when it came out as a photo, it begged to be written.

Maples are beautiful, aren't they? Some people down the street have one that I have always admired. You're fortunate to have such a lovely surrounding. And even more fortunate to be of a nature to appreciate it.

(kiss on cheek) This is absolutely magical, sweet friend, I LOVE IT, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Thanks so much, Nan...The back of our condo is completely in the woods and it overlooks a pretty little pond.
Of course, right now...the trees are so leafed out that the pond isn't visible.
I actually like it better in the early spring and in the fall, because I think the pond is so pretty and also without total leafiness...there are more interesting shadows.

Thanks so much for your reply, Noah...
I think they are pretty when they're green but they are more interesting to me when they don't have all of their leaves completely there yet....
I love the early spring when the leaves are still budding and also the fall when the leaves are beautiful colors and when they start to fall off....
I think that leafless trees are so much more interesting....thats probably because I have some perverse preferences...as my mother always says....I also like rainy days more than sunny ones....
oh well...
I guess I'm a crazy old lady.

fantastic mixing of vocabulary and imagery Lyra...this just bursts with color and vision. One of the things I enjoy most about your work is that you find beauty in the small quiet places...Most people dont see the trees for the more attention stealing grand colors of flowers or sky or so on...but your eyes and words offer us a moment to notice the more subtle giftd nature blesses us with.

I just love nature and even more, I love it when I find a poet that does her justice.  Not only is your penning a tribute of beauty, but it gives off an air of admiration that makes us all stop to take a look.  Beautifully portrayed and your images of color supreme.  Loved it.
