I keep my eyes closed
enjoying the magic moment
of nothingness
between sleeping
and awakening
before I hear
the birds
at the crack of dawn
welcoming the new day
with their best songs

Unfortunately…

it won’t take long
to feel
the void in my heart
because…
it’s again
an other day
without you…

That is how I feel when I am out of town and can't speak to Liam. Very good poem.

a brief moment of hope
before the memories flood back
and you know
today will be just like yesterday

How heartbreaking. The contrast between the emotions in the first stanza and the second makes it more powerful. Well done.

A very, very.... hard piece to read. Very real, and sad. The jump from hope to reality is very powerful, as was said. Thank you for the read. I hope.... the hope is soon reality for you.

...the feeling of emptiness at the end of it. You've expressed it so well Neeraja.

Possibly the greatest moment of the day is the one after sleep and before full consciousness.....before reality sets in

'I keep my eyes closed

Those are some really clever lines...I, too, love to savor that part of the day...very good write...

crashing on a brand new day;
keep the memory of your face
but wipe the pain away...
