this black cloaked lady was a famous actress...her name???

Pig tailed girl hadn't a moment to lose
she'd put out a fire on the loose
wicked witch thought straw would burn
did she know death marked her turn?

"I'm melting", cloaked lady cried
the bucket water thrown hadn't dried
with a hiss black-coned form receeded
a little spray was all that was needed.

Young Kansas lady dowsed the flame
strawman friend would remember her name
she knew her galant act was to tame...
order in the wicked kingdom
was n'er the same.

Martin, do you want the stage name, or the actress's real name?  I've got both

I am not a younger poet, by I can't think of her name even though I've seen it many times.  Wonderful poem though...glad I inspired!

Martin, I can't think anyone, no matter how young they are, don't know this one. I remember the movie used to come on every Christmas season, and it was one of the things I looked forward to.

I know the answer also, Martin...but I'm one of the old people here...
lets keep waiting to see if any of the younger ones can figure it out.
