Green eyes catch mine
as they gaze at my face in the glass
Lean, muscled, defined
Sleek body glides quietly past...

Street all to ourselves
It is time when the neighbourhood sleeps
Day's cares have been shelved
Still, the night creature quietly creeps...

Stop! What is that he hears?
Body tense as he takes hunter's stance
Warrior devoid of all fears
as the ancient drum signals his chance...

Fast, fleet as the wind
With a single leap corners his prey
Victorious to a quick end
So begins his one meal for the day...

Dawn starts to ascend
Shedding light on the spot where he's at
In shadows we will soon meet again
...Nocturnal...
We are poet and cat...

Open the door and let your adventure begin!!!

Really enjoyable and very well done, Sunny.
Its interesting how poets tend to be night people...we also seem to have this strange tendancy to appreciate rainy and cloudy days.

I've been a night person all my life, but my cat is asleep during the wee morning hours.  I guess we're both insomniacs.   Much enjoyed, Sunny, and nice to see you here. *hugs* my friend!

(smiles) Oh my gosh, I love this, sweet friend, sometimes I am nocturnal too and I always feel my best writings come out at that depth of night! (kiss on cheek) This is a powerful treasure, sweet friend, I LOVE IT, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sunny darling heart in this delight you have excelled your usual high standard normally your writing shines, in this one poem you have written incandescence. I cannot praise you too highly. This is exquisite writing I love it utterly utterly. Truly beautiful. And I know exactly what you mean, I am definitely a night owl.

Wonderful picture you look amazingly happy, and it is excellent to see you.

Love and warm stuff
