In Shadows of Dawn

In shadows of dawn when the world slumbers still
The fresh scents of morning invitingly fill
The space where my dreams of the night disappeared
The mind not yet wakened to notions endeared

From damp of the dawning, my wrap cannot shield
The wet of the earth and the dew of the field
Aroma of wildflower's scent of delight
Awaiting the warming of sun’s dawning light

This is the hour of orchestra’s tune
This is the time of a lullaby moon
To slip away gently as purple adorns
Horizon's soft edges so silently born

This is the moment for spirits to bathe
In absence of life’s pending footprints to pave
Doused in the mist and the fragrance of earth
Wakening mind to life’s presence and worth

Elizabeth Santos

The times of transition between light and dark,
Or Dark and light,
Has always drawn me in to watching,
To waiting, for feeling the changes.
Enjoyed your expression of it here.

Your poetry, Lady Santos, should never, ever sit in shadows, but enjoy the light...

it is a transparent mauve veil
weightier than it has a right to be
when dawn comes with dusty eyes
and a man must stop
to witness the daily miracle

Enjoyed so much
a poem that induces a feeling
of experience
and not of remembrance

Really nice.
Each sunrise or sunset is so special to all of us that are wise enough to enjoy them.
Each one a perfect moment in time never to be duplicated just like your poem.

Liz born and raised and aint never leaving PA probably.  Love it here, love the mountains, the country side....
the beauty.  Yes, I know what you speak of if not the same mountain I see every morning when I arise....I am sure just as beautiful.

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.
