Of Pinecones and Sparrows

The grass spreads across the day
like a picnic table
and sandwich filled with honey

we lick the scent of summer pine trees
in feather breaths

closed behind the sun the hum becomes
bird warbled and flying
tender hopped with rabbit and squirrel
a mind meadow melting warm

I am unfolded and benched
in circles of heat laced tender thirst
then blended until I am quenched

and now...so are we
Thank you for inviting us to your picnic...
the view from your bench is always the loveliest.

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much ...
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch.

some absolutely terrific lines...must be a "Martie"

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Every body should build a "quite place" in their minds.A place you can go to when the world becomes just a little too much to take.A short day dream can be most refreshing.

Where do you come up with these images Martie?  They are like a picnic basket overflowing, and always a pleasant surprise to read.  Wonderfully done!

I just love it when the meadows melt, even if it is just in the mind.  Just the perfect piece to end my reads with tonight.  Thank you in advance for the dreams to come from your words.
