Fires flickered in the still night
upon the hills high over a land
of battle worn and weary knight
in flow of time’s immortal sand

Twas in the Spring of‘42
when life was taken from the earth
Twas in the night of starry hue
whence liberty did give to birth

A cry into the air of chill
did bring to arms the hastened call
when lives were lost from sword in wield
and souls were fell from arrow’s fall

Whence time has come to pass the green
as meadows grow and flourish where
the blood once ran in crimson sheen
from limbs and hearts of then and there

Of then a time in history’s place
to be a mome' of mem’ry well
as tears still fall from a child’s face
as stories of the then we tell.

The courage of the men in mail
who rode to fight and save their maids
shall in the stars forever sail
as stain of blood on stone has stayed

Barry

On one morning in 42
a child came into the war torn world
and opened hope within her eyes
as she took breath with her first cry

so important, the stories!

Yes Martie...so important are the stories
and the memories of the sacrifices made for
freedom....HERE in our own land as well as
in the times of old when knights rode off
to battle in defense of freedom and family,
in defense of a newborn child...that the
child could be born free and with hope...

Thank You Lady...

Magnus darling boy how utterly utterly wonderful is this poem of yours, and there is no way it should have fallen so far with so few replies, as always it is not a reflection of the quality of your writing it is the sheer weight of poems posted over it. It’s obvious darling heart your fan base is wide and healthy. Have I told you that you are an exceptional writer lately? Well you are, extremely so.

Now back to the poem the content is especially noteworthy on this weekend, Freedom is something that we all take for granted but it had to be hard won by those brave and fore-sighted men of yore. Long live Liberty, viva Fraternity, and let Freedom ring true always.

Wonderful writing darling heart absolutely wonderful, and i love it utterly utterly utterly xxxx Did you miss me? I missed you, a lot

Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire
