*~Fear~*

Fear...they call the mystery
the cryptic secret knowing not
which way a memory's future
sings it's song

I feel the dread, I walk on glass
unsteady slick
to slide the wiles
of ever cutting fate

distant darkness looms large
casting shadows drab with grim in hidden spaces
and evil omen cloaked in black
life's grim underbelly
reveals her seams are torn

twisted angst is waiting now
bent with question marks of deep alarm
to see the truth

does it tear asunder wishes
or lift the spirit onward
toward the path of life?

Thanks Karilea,  I still haven't gotten the pathology results of my biopsy...
I know there's no tumor tissue there, but there could still be some malignant cells.
We were supposed to have these results on Monday, and now it looks like we have to wait a whole extra week....and believe me...I have been walking on glass this week.

~ glad you liked it hugs

Thanks Barry...
you hit the nail right on the head....
a bullseye!
I was supposed to know my results last Monday and I really wasn't too terribly worried because there was no tumor.  But now, my fear has had a whole extra week to percolate and marinate....and, especially after being sick with pneumonia all week...I am feeling quite scared and vulnerable...

Lyra

This poem is so perfectly expressed...fear is just like that, yet I see you so powerful, that I want to be like you.  So sorry you have to wait longer...I wait with you.

Thanks so much for waiting with me, Martie.
If only I had gotten the results before the weekend started, I wouldn't have this fear right now.
Now, I have 2 whole days to wait and if I am lucky....I might hear something on Monday.
One part of me tells me not to be afraid because there's nothing there...how could there be?  theres no tumor....but another part of me keeps saying...what if...what if?
There still could be some cells....
Kinda scarey, especially since I have no real plans for those cells....
thanks for being a friend.

Lyra, effective poem, full of foreboding. I know what you mean about the test results. Telling yourself to be sensible, and don't borrow trouble, and all that, is worthless.  I think fear is a body thing more than a mind thing, because once it starts the chemicals take over. I'm sorry to hear about the pneumonia, too.  Are you getting over that?

Thanks Nan...
You are so right.  Once it gets started, it takes over.
The pneumonia started from a cold I caught at my grandaughter's ballet recital, which was a couple of days before my biopsy.
When I came out of the O.R. after the biopsy, my nose started running a marathon, but the recovery room nurse wouldn't let me sit up to blow it out because my blood pressure was too low, so it all went down into my bronchial tree...and I couldn't cough it up so it turned into pneumonia because my immune system is very compromised right now from all of the treatments I had.
I have just finished the last of my antibiotics and so far, I'm getting a little better each day, so I keep trying to do more and then I get exhausted....
But, I will get there!  I have things to do and poems to write.

Lyra,

this reminds me of a line that goes: the thing to fear is fear itself...

Its also very distracting...which is very good right now.

Lyra,

I turn to the serenity's prayer in times like this..may i recite it along with you?

God grant me
the serenity to accept
things i cannot change,
the courage to change
things i can,
and the wisdom
to know the difference

Thanks Nan...
David and I went out to do some errands today, and when we got back there was a message from my doctor telling me that she would call me back later to discuss the results of the pathology report from my biopsy.
I was planning to go to the cemetary today, and now I am stuck here waiting for her to call......and waiting on pins and needles too, because I figure that if she had something good to say, she could have left it in a message, but she didn't.  Apparantly, there is something to discuss...which makes me nervous...so I am now wearing my best pout.
