Morning Weeding

peck, peck, peck, woodypecker
knocking on the tree
how much wood
could a woodpecker peck;
would you like to see?

early morning in the city
pulling weeds, what a pity,
tall grass here, tall grass there
whatever shall my garden wear?
to the rhythm of the beat
woody woodpecker, such a treat
beating out a rock ‘n’ roll
as the morning hour’s toll

peck, peck, peck, woodypecker
rapping up a rhythm
how much wood
would a woodpecker peck
knocking at a schism?

I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Hi Virginia

Boy do I understand tall weeds...We have a blue jay that loves it when they're pulled..so he can finally take a look at the dark earth underneath.  Your poem was a delightful song!
