A cosmic thought
far into the reaches of space
within the myriad of cells
of a mind.

Whisking past memories
of times left within dark recesses
places seldom visited
a locked door.

The creak of hinges dry
in need of the oil of forgiveness
anointing of a soul

Darkness within the expanse
where countless lessons lie hidden
from view by others
but clear to one

A slim thread of light reflecting
against a darkened wall
a memory.

Where does a memory take me
One that sits at the end of the beam
waiting for a hand to grasp
to hold and touch

The path of stone where weeds
have grown through endless cracks
needing only to be traveled
one last time.

And as a soul returns
along a winding path of remember
let the walk be stepped by feet
on wings of wisdom

and remembered as only a memory
where one has trodden
and learned

Barry, m'friend, THIS is the best I have ever seen you write!
Every stanza...every word so carefully chosen
and placed exactly where it belongs..
This is absolute perfection!

...And as a soul returns
along a winding path of remember
let the walk be stepped by feet
on wings of wisdom...

exactly the way this needed
to be said, and heard...

Nancy....
Thanx...may we all take our memories...those
we may have felt badly about and place them
where they belong....as a tool to help us
learn and grow...not as something to help
us destroy ourselves by reflecting on them
in such a way that they always cause us to
feel shame or guilt...  Grow from them and
let them go....

Deca...well said...thank you very much...
exercising a little positive reinforcement.

Barry

This comes from deep feeling...that's why it is so real and wise....and what Deca said..yes!

Barry,
this is spectacular from beginning to end but this stanza reaches beyond perfection,

"The creak of hinges dry
in need of the oil of forgiveness
anointing of a soul"

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Love and warm stuff

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire

Hello Barry

As you know my memories are many and treasured, especially those I have of my father.  Your words soothed me.

Take care.....Sue
