Deeply do I feel this aloneness
Bewildered by the cause
Questions unasked
Liars unmasked
I want to speak but I pause

Rigid is my conviction
That I will leave this place
Dead is my soul
It’s under control
As is the blankness on my face

Crowds around me laughing
As I stand upon the edge
Despair, my friend,
Love, at the end
Not living up to your pledge

Quietly I slip away
You even won’t know I’m gone
Will you remember that
I was here all along?

The door closes
I cry one last time
And thus end’s this poet’s
Very last rhyme.

There is a lot of pain of betrayal here.

I'm here, should ya need an ear...

(and yes, I KNOW...it's personal--but I am here anyway.)

Sharon, this sounds so sad. I hope you are okay? I know how it is, when someone doesn't keep their promises. And, I know how loneliness feels, too. BIG HUGS to you.

For any poet to list there last rhyme or even to think about it causes despair.  All I can say is, that I hope it ISN'T your last rhyme unless you have decided to go strictly free-verse and/or prose.

I"m trying to repost some poems that haven't seen the light of day in some time. And my most recent poem about the city names seems to be dying so I better stick to the old stuff...

I don't really know you,but just by reading a few of your poems tonight I must say you have a great God given gift of expressing your feelings and I hope that you continue for a long long time. I hope someday to be able to call you a friend and to be able to write one tenth as good as you.

PdV, you have the gift of being able to touch on subjects that we all experience, and by reading, we learn from you. Your writing always gives me reason to think, and to feel what you have put across. I admire your ability, in this poem and all of the others that you have shared......

Open the door and let your adventure begin!!!

Sharon, I am glad that this is one from the past and that you are still here.  Your writing has had an impact on each and every one of us.  Your gift of words you bring to Passions with each post.  Thank you Devine one.

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.

D*** it, I recognize this.  No, haven't read it before . . . been there.
Thanks anyway, nice to know, in a way, that even this can be shared.
