The Lady, Miss Liberty

Freedom is a thing we take for granted every day
look at what we have compared to those not in the USA.
The lady stands on a throne built of friendship and of trust
I hate to see her just crumbling into dust

She is a symbol to those who land upon these shores
Just a symbol of freedom, on no, so much more.
Her light has always shown over this land
always standing proud to lend a guiding hand.

Throughout the days of many passing years
she has soothed away the travelers fears
as she has extended her hand with joy
welcoming every parent, girl and boy.

Yes, there is such a lovely lady
one who shines forever upon you and me
and if you have forgotten her name
please remember it is MISS LIBERTY

Sunshine, the restoration work on her was done I believe in 1986 also, which is why I wrote this at the time.  This piece has been buried, and I thought it an appropriate time to revisit her .......again.

The words ring just as true today as they did in 1986.  Wonderful...

I remember well when she was restored and what a huge undertaking it was.  You've brought back some nice memories and yes, we often do take our freedom for granted.  Thank you for this.   *hugs* my friend!

GS....

Thank you for posting a very appropriate
poem at this time of our lives and a year
when our freedom has been challenged
heavily....
